Summer botanicals – Borage

July has an abundance of blooms, following June’s rose season. This month the garden has hues of blue from the petals of Borage.

Here are a selection of photographs capturing this flower through the lens. I love the flowers, and spent flower heads, which when captured through the macro lens, illuminates the intricate details of this plant. A magnet for bees and self-seeds.

Nigella (Love-in-a-mist)

May is the time of year when the Nigella flowers open. They are interesting plants from bud, to flower to seed pod. Here are a selection of photographs capturing this flower at the flowering stage… I will document this flower throughout the seasons. The plant is easy to grow and self-seeds, which guarantees an abundance of blooms the following year.
