I specialise in flower photography and enjoy capturing the seasons through the lens. My focus is on macro flower photography. I also use printmaking techniques to create linocut prints which are botanically inspired.
My passion for flower photography started with a Bridge camera where I started to record and photograph plants and trees on walks. I then developed this further when I upgraded onto a DSLR, experimenting with different lenses. Macro photography caught my imagination, showcasing flowers, trees, leaves and the changing seasons close up.
Through the medium of printmaking using lino and monoprinting techniques I explore, illustrate and interpret nature through the seasons and have used art to create and experiment with mark-making techniques.
I have an interest in ecology, conservation and sustainability, this is supported by a Postgraduate Certificate in Sustainability and Adaptation from the Centre for Alternative Technology/ Graduate School of the Environment (GSE) validated by UEL. I am also a Horticulturist – RHS Level 2 in Practical Horticulture and achieved the Permaculture Design Certificate. I enjoy exploring the connections between arts, creative health, ecology/nature, and wellbeing, which I also develop through photography and printmaking.
I am a champion of Creative Health and the benefits that this can bring for health and wellbeing. The combination of arts and health have many benefits for individuals, groups and communities, and this is an area of work that I am passionate about showcasing and campaigning for, as well as championing nature-based therapies, nature-based arts practices, supporting health and wellbeing.
Both my photography and printmaking have a theme of engaging with and connecting with nature, exploring the seasons as they unfold. Connecting, developing and growing – looking at how we can use the power of nature for wellbeing – nature connectedness.
